Ascension describes the journey this whisky has taken throughout its carefully guided maturation as it moved from the smallest to the largest casks at Lawrenny Estate.

Lawrenny initially created their unique spirit using local Tasmanian barley, pristine river water and their signature blend of yeasts before laying it down in small bourbon and port casks.

Once close to maturity the small casks of each type were married together and filled into fresh 100L casks for several months to impart an extra dimension of influence. The final touch was achieved by the now combined bourbon and port whisky resting in rich, antique 600L Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.

The result is a single malt that not only showcases the very best of each cask type and size but introduces you to Lawrenny Estate's vision for their ongoing journey.

Colour: A deep, dark ruby in the glass that hides more than just the rich Pedro Ximenez finishing cask notes within.

Nose: Each cask is delivered to the nose through an even hand of honey roasted cashews from the bourbon casks mingling with the dripping treacle and warm raisins of the port and sherry casks.

Palate: A weighty body throughout the palate acts as a platform for grilled nectarine, toasted coconut and mango lassi to collide with blackberry jam, rich tobacco and the complexity of oak to create a profile beyond comparison.

Lawrenny Estate Distillery

Lawrenny holds all of the elements required to be positioned as a leading new world distillery. It is located on a 400 acre property in Tasmania’s Central Highlands, just over an hour’s picturesque drive through the Derwent Valley, northwest of Hobart.

Lawrenny Estate Distillery has been established as one of only a very few 'paddock to bottle' Estate single malt whiskies in the world. The barley grains are grown and harvested from the Lawrenny fields then mashed, fermented and distilled using the pure waters that flow through the Estate.
