Explore discontinued single malt whisky expressions from the classic distilleries of the Highlands, Speyside, Islay, the Lowlands and Campbeltown. Discover the fast disappearing whiskies from “ghost” distilleries. Collect the discontinued expressions of iconic blended Scotch whiskies and the bygone brands of long lost Scotch whisky blends. There are also examples of associated memorabilia to help enrich your collection. Whilst we cannot show all the distilleries and brands which we stock do use the search box for those not in the respective sidebars.
Brilliantly clean air, the purest of water and pristine landscape combine to give Tasmanian distilleries a fast-developing reputation for quality and diversity. We encourage you to explore and be tempted by some of the island's current expressions as well as a range of incredibly scarce historical whiskies, which can only increase in value as the Tasmanian product reaches new heights of recognition and excellence.
The whiskies we feature here are past winners from distilleries which are currently in production, mainly in Islay and Speyside, but also from elsewhere in the Highlands, as well as the Lowlands and Campbeltown. The selection is based on personal preferences and our assessment of the individual whisky’s whole of quality, its investment value and potential collectable worth. To some extent it is a self-selective process in terms of Ardbeg, Bowmore, Glenfarclas, Glen Grant, Glenlivet, Lagavulin. Laphroaig, Macallan, Springbank, Talisker and the like. But there are also some surprises. Collectively, they present a rare opportunity to acquire some fine, but scarcely seen expressions from distilleries whose eminence requires no justification here.
MyWhiskyJourneys is the initiative of whisky author and historian, Philip Morrice, who has, sometimes in the company of friends, built up a very extensive collection of rare whiskies, and whisky-related memorabilia and literature, over a period of forty years. Philip and his friends now want to share those treasures and experiences with like-minded whisky disciples through MyWhiskyJourneys.
