Jack House

White Horse Distillers Ltd

1971

Board

This is a large-scale 40-page book published by the company in 1971 for publicity purposes. It is profusely illustrated and its author, the prolific Scottish author, Jack House, gives a light-hearted account of the company’s history and its products.  House went on to write two other whisky industry profiles  - “The Romance of Long John” and “Pride of Perth the story of Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd”.

The book has brown board covers (no dust jacket) with gilt lettering.  Every White Horseman - and woman – should have a copy. This one is slightly used but has no inscriptions, although the boards have slight rubbing especially to the top and bottom of spine and corners but no fading, and cover design is undamaged. There is a bump to the upper front corner. Slight spotting to front and rear endpapers but overall in nice condition with little wear.

We have an interesting selection of White Horse expressions available online at [Link].

This book is located in Australia.  Due to the size of this book, a supplementary shipping charge may be necessary.

Distillery

White Horse

A much-loved blend from the old DCL stable – forgive the pun – which Diageo still promotes in many overseas markets, including Japan.

It sold 1.5 million cases in 2015 but dropped to 1.3 million in 2016. Hopefully, that decline can be arrested.

There is more about White Horse and the brand’s history and associated distilleries under the White Horse Story.
