Sullivans Cove American Oak 17 Years HH0476 Tasmanian Single Malt Whisky 2018

$1,500 AUD

47.6% ABV

700 ml

Cask HH0476 was distilled in September 2000 and aged in a single 200L American oak cask which previously held bourbon.

After 17 years had passed, the whisky was hand-bottled in April 2018 and labelled at the distillery, yielding only 151 bottles.  This is bottle 133.

The bottle is presented in a hand-made, solid oak presentation box with a letter of authenticity personally signed by then Head Distiller Patrick Maguire and Production Manager Heather Tillott.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Berries, waxy flowers, candied ginger, mandarin rind, brioche, a hint of floral perfume, and lots of pear.
Palate: An explosion of mandarin on a sweet vanilla base along with a bonanza of tropical fruits through in the mid palate. Top notes of pepper and pine forest keep things freshly balanced.
Finish: Vanilla, coconut and preserved fruits with a malty cocoa line that drives the finish and lingers almost indefinitely.

Sullivans Cove

Australia’s most awarded distillery and one of the country’s modern whisky distilling pioneers, Sullivans Cove has achieved great success in recent years, including international recognition when their French Oak Single Cask was crowned World’s Best Single Malt in 2014 by the World Whiskies Awards. This, alongside exemplary ratings from Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible, propelled Sullivans Cove into the spotlight, but with limited stock and a long maturation period, their whiskies are highly sought after and very hard to find.
