Nant The Homestead Reserve Tasmanian Single Malt - Historic

Nant The Homestead Reserve Tasmanian Single Malt - Historic

$550 AUD

43% ABV
500ml

The Homestead Reserve was the first Nant offering to be released not as a single cask whisky, like its predecessors, but as a blend of whisky from six 100 litre casks selected by Jim Murray of Whisky Bible fame. Whilst a comparatively large release for Nant at 1400 bottles, its exclusive distribution through Dan Murphy’s quickly saw it sell out.

This is how they described it at the time of release:

“A lovely gentle aroma gives honey and maple directly but has notes of citrus and nut when allowed to develop. A delicious dry palate with equal spice and heat allows the hints of toffee and caramel to be enjoyed. The finish is slightly oily but not overly long and contains suggestions of nut and coffee. Delivered through a golden sunset hue the Homestead Reserve is a single malt whisky deserving premium position in any whisky connoisseur’s collection”.

It has been something of a rollercoaster at Nant. It launched with much fanfare at an idyllic site near Bothwell in the Tasmanian Highlands, won much acclaim for the quality of some of its early expressions, only to sink into the depths of despair as a result of a whisky barrel investment scheme gone wrong, but then to start climbing back as a result of a significant change in ownership and structure. This led to renovation of the existing premises and then substantial expansion with the construction of a second still house.

With no new bottlings flowing from Nant, we only offer those which found much favour under the old regime and now form part of the Nant archive. With quality never in question, these expressions are getting increasing attention from collectors and investors as their number is finite in the extreme.
