White Horse Fine Old Scotch Whisky 1978 Year of the Horse

$650 AUD

43% 760 ml

In terms of whisky, at one time White Horse and Japan were synonymous.  This is a very rare botting for the Japanese market in 1978 to mark the “Year of the Horse”. Obviously, the custom of the time would require that these bottles be opened and drunk during the course of that year. Consequently, these bottles are now extremely elusive.

The labelling is unusually colourful for this normally conservative brand.

Fill is half way up the shoulder.

White Horse

A much-loved blend from the old DCL stable – forgive the pun – which Diageo still promotes in many overseas markets, including Japan.

It sold 1.5 million cases in 2015 but dropped to 1.3 million in 2016. Hopefully, that decline can be arrested.

There is more about White Horse and the brand’s history and associated distilleries under the White Horse Story.
