White Horse America's Cup 1987

$310 AUD

A limited-edition bottling of White Horse blended Scotch whisky released as the official whisky to commemorate the America's Cup of 1987 in a 75cl flat bottle at 40% ABV.

There is also a 43% version and a very limited ship’s decanter version made by Royal Doulton, which one rarely sees, and both 3cl and 5cl miniatures.

It was produced under license from the Royal Perth Yacht Club as the race took place in Perth, Western Australia. It was the first-ever non-American defence of the America’s Cup. The blend is made up of various whiskies, all of them, according to the back label, at least 12 years old. That is no doubt entirely accurate whereas the statement on the same label that “The White Horse Master Blenders” have used their skills since 1835 is more doubtful, given the known timeline of the company and its forerunners.

This particular whisky was popular in Australia, where the sole importer was Swift & Moore Pty. Ltd. of Silverwater in NSW and has a special place in Australia’s fascinating whisky history.

We have a couple of examples available but please note the condition of the box.

This product is located in the United Kingdom.

White Horse

A much-loved blend from the old DCL stable – forgive the pun – which Diageo still promotes in many overseas markets, including Japan.

It sold 1.5 million cases in 2015 but dropped to 1.3 million in 2016. Hopefully, that decline can be arrested.

There is more about White Horse and the brand’s history and associated distilleries under the White Horse Story.
