Glen Flagler 23 Years Old 1970 Lowland Malt by Signatory

$2,275 AUD

50.1% ABV

70 cl

A rare bottling of whisky from this short-lived Lowland distillery which closed in 1985 after only 19 years of operation. This is one of a pair of bottlings that Signatory released in the mid-1990s, and one of only a handful of bottlings released since the closure. The whisky was distilled on 6 October 1970 and matured at the distillery and subsequently at the bottler’s warehouse before being drawn from cask numbers 1260 and 7861 in May 1994.

It comes in an attractive “luxury” presentation with a handsome certificate of authenticity signed by the managing director of Signatory. This is bottle no 286 out of a total of 350.

Glen Flagler/Garnheath Distillery

Classified as a Lowland distillery, Glen Flagler was a hybrid pot still operation within the old Moffat complex, which also produced Garnheath grain whisky. Glen Flagler was bottled by the distillery and by independent merchants. The Moffat distillery complex was set up in 1964 by Inver House Distillers, a subsidiary of Publicker Industries Inc., in the USA. Malt whisky distilling commenced in February, 1965 and continued until 1982.  There were 6 pot stills operating technically as two separate distilleries, one making Glen Flagler, and Glen Moffat, a heavier version of Glen Flagler and the other making Killyloch, and Islebrae.
