Lost Causes
We feature here a casual selection of defunct whisky brands – mainly Scotch blends – which are increasingly difficult to find. Where we can, we shall offer the odd bottle and/or associated memorabilia from the MyWhiskyJourneys collection at prices which reflect scarcity.
There are, of course, literally thousands of brands, many of them with a very limited life, often destined for bottom level supermarket distribution. Some will be found only in a single market (sometimes bottled locally) or even in one retail chain. We shall try and distinguish between these marginal brands and those with a serious history in Scotch whisky development. The latter will range from the multiple brands once marketed by the old DCL empire and its many subsidiaries, to a single brand sold by a local licensed grocer.
