Tasting Notes

Nose: The aroma opens with light and fruity tones, underpinned by a subtle industrial character reminiscent of dusty Irish blend. Distinct notes of yellow peaches, dried apricots, honey and limes are present. As the whisky sits in the glass, it develops an OBE metallic edge that enhances its complexity.

Palate: On the palate, there is an initial minty creme quality, which transitions into a lemon creme note. Flavours of vanilla extract and brown sugar emerge, complemented by increasingly prominent citrus notes with time, evoking the taste of freshly baked lemon bars. The faintly smoky aspect, derived from the nose's industrial note, further adds depth to the overall flavour profile.

Finish: The finish is unexpectedly long, offering a moderate sweetness balanced by tart notes reminiscent of lemons and clementines. A hint of bitterness provides additional complexity to the whisky's lingering aftertaste.

Distillery

Glen Flagler/Garnheath Distillery

Classified as a Lowland distillery, Glen Flagler was a hybrid pot still operation within the old Moffat complex, which also produced Garnheath grain whisky. Glen Flagler was bottled by the distillery and by independent merchants. The Moffat distillery complex was set up in 1964 by Inver House Distillers, a subsidiary of Publicker Industries Inc., in the USA. Malt whisky distilling commenced in February, 1965 and continued until 1982.  There were 6 pot stills operating technically as two separate distilleries, one making Glen Flagler, and Glen Moffat, a heavier version of Glen Flagler and the other making Killyloch, and Islebrae.
