Any book that achieves 15 annual editions has to be on to a good thing. Simply do not leave home without this in your back pocket – or handbag - as you never know when you will need it. Jim has reviewed more than 4600 different whiskies from around the world and, as is his way, has come up with some surprising winners.
I sometimes marvel at how much information, research and judgement lies between the covers of this remarkably priced book. Not everyone loves it though, and particularly some of those at the corporate end of the industry who believe that the success of a whisky should be judged by how much is spent on advertising and promotion resulting in case sales, rather than on the intrinsic quality of the product itself. But then that is another story.
And here is a warning. It can be addictive and reading through the current edition can simply make you impatient to see what’s in the next edition, which is always out in good time for Christmas. Thoughtful Jim!
